Week 4- What's the outside world even like?

Image
Greetings and salutations from my home to yours. I wish I had some exciting story to tell you, but unless you want to hear about how Elder Gregory thought he was muted while he was singing "There is sunshine in my soul today" at the top of his lungs in spanish, I got nothing.  I'm learning mucho spanish, today at the Bishop's storehouse I was able to answer and understand two phone calls in spanish!! (pretty big accomplishment in my book) My companions and I also had our first TRC in spanish (we taught a native speaker a lesson in spanish) and it actually went really well! Gift of tongues is real, y'all.  ALSO I have discovered my new favorite scripture, it is Isaiah 43:2 and applies to almost everything and I think I've used it in every lesson since discovering it. For those of you too lazy to look it up, it says:  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through...

Week 3-- The Amount Of Juiceboxes I've Consumed Is Probably Unhealthy

Happy Saturday! Which is just like every other day of the week for most of you in quarantine, but hey! You survived another week! And so did I! Lots and lots of spanish practice, which includes lots and lots of mistakes!! My biggest problem with learning spanish is my own impatience... I just want to learn  everything   all at once  which, in case you didn't know, is not how a language is learned. Regardless, I believe I'm making progress. Baby steps, ya know? Funny story time : It was yesterday, at about 1:00 PDT. I was sitting in class (which means I was sitting at my desk, on a zoom call with my district), munching on some mini M&Ms, which I got for Easter. Now, I don't know if any of you have this problem, but if I have a bowl of  anything  while sitting and doing something else, I will eat all of said bowl in one sitting.  But I  really  love mini M&Ms, so I wanted them to last. So I thought, if I just eat them one by one, th...

Week 2-- Crushed it

Helloooo all I guess there isn't much to report on... I'm learning mucho every day and I'm definitely giving my brain a workout. FUN FACT blue light glasses really do work! I'd 15/10 recommend them to anyone staring at a screen for an unreasonable amount of time every day (which, let's be honest, is most of you). I got to volunteer at the Bishop's storehouse today so that was pretty fun. I was the only one there who could speak spanish so they were really kicking my butt. It was good practice, but let's just say I've got a lot to learn.  ANYWHO I'm having tons of fun, my companions are  awesome,  my district is  awesome  and my teachers are  awesome  and I'm learning so so so much every day.  Here's a spanish pun for you to enjoy, courtesy of one of the Elders in my district: What is the coldest color? Yellow (If you don't get it, look up "ice" in spanish) Hope everyone isn't quite going crazy being lo...

FIRST WEEK IN THE MTC

I finally made it to the MTC!! It was a crazy long drive and it was really hard to say goodbye to my family. The food here is  horrible  and I don't know how I could possibly survive  six whole weeks  of this. Jokes. I'm still at home. The food is fabulous. I get to meet with my district over Zoom for over 7 hours a day (my eyes are killing me. Dear people with office jobs... how do you do it?? Blue light glasses??) But my companions are awesome. My whole district is awesome. THE MTC IS AWESOME, EVEN IF I'M STILL AT HOME. Plus I get the benefits of home cooked meals and a nice comfy bed at night. Not gonna lie, I was a bit apprehensive about the whole "online MTC" shabang but it's actually not bad at all. I'm learning  so much  and I've only been going to classes for three days. Companion studies are the absolute best. Hermana Partridge y Hermana Taylor are  so fun  to talk to and we just have the best conversations.  For those who a...
