FIRST WEEK IN THE MTC
I finally made it to the MTC!! It was a crazy long drive and it was really hard to say goodbye to my family. The food here is horrible and I don't know how I could possibly survive six whole weeks of this.
Jokes. I'm still at home. The food is fabulous. I get to meet with my district over Zoom for over 7 hours a day (my eyes are killing me. Dear people with office jobs... how do you do it?? Blue light glasses??) But my companions are awesome. My whole district is awesome. THE MTC IS AWESOME, EVEN IF I'M STILL AT HOME. Plus I get the benefits of home cooked meals and a nice comfy bed at night. Not gonna lie, I was a bit apprehensive about the whole "online MTC" shabang but it's actually not bad at all. I'm learning so much and I've only been going to classes for three days. Companion studies are the absolute best. Hermana Partridge y Hermana Taylor are so fun to talk to and we just have the best conversations.
For those who are curious of what my schedule is like, it's pretty similar to what I'd be doing if I were actually in the Mission Training Center. Wake at 6:30. exercise. breakfast. personal study. companion study. spanish class. lunch. class. dinner. class. bedtime. It's definitely been kicking my butt after a couple months of doing nothing, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.
My companions and I talked a bit this morning about the importance of learning in the home. And not just right now because we're all quarantined, but always. The home is the center of learning. Just think of the story of the Stripling Warriors in Alma 56. They were boys. but they had been taught by their mothers that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. And they did not doubt their mothers knew it. How amazing is that?? An entire army of young men who were so strong in their faith because they were taught in their homes. Don't think of this quarantine as a trial, think of it as a blessing. We have so many opportunities right now with our families to learn and grow. Let's not take it for granted.
Hope everyone has a good week and doesn't catch the coronavirus.

PS Sorry I don't have pictures... maybe I'll take a screenshot of my zoom classes for you this week.
