Week 9 CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY

Image
Oh BOY do I have a story for you!! So my companion and I go on walks every day and we always walk by this community garden. Sometimes there's people working in it, sometimes not. Well two days ago we went on our walk and we hear some guy yell "do you want some beets?" And we're like... what? "Beets! Do you like beets?" And this guy goes over to his patch of the garden and just pulls up some beets for us, tells us how to cook them and how healthy they are for you. He asks us if we're missionaries, so we talked with him a bit about the gospel, he told us he's buddhist... and may I just mention that this old guy was wearing NOTHING but his boxers. So that was exciting.  We're also getting ready to move into our own apartment so we've been getting TONS of packages and it honestly feels like Christmas. We're not teaching anyone quite yet but we are staying pretty busy posting on facebook, meeting with members and just trying to find people tea...

Week 8-- the awkward gets real

I know it's only been two weeks... but I swear I've been out here for years. I love this little one-stoplight town and all the cows and corn. The people are great, when they aren't avoiding us (there were two Amish women in the store today and they turned around so fast like we had the plague or something). But the members are AMAZING like seriously, missionaries can't do ANYTHING without the members. We did a lot of service this week since we're allowed to do service outside now (still wearing masks, of course... I don't think the masks are going away for a long time) and it may have been 90 degrees with no breeze or clouds and we were out there raking for a solid two hours but it felt good! Get out and do more service, people! It's good for you! I also had my first very awkward member dinner, but it sufficeth me to say that it was an experience I soon hope to forget. Hope everyone has an AWEsome week, don't do drugs, dont get the plague, and get out an...

It happened! It actually, finally happened! I'm out in the field being a real missionary! To recap- I spent 6 weeks back in april/may doing my missionary  training online, then I had to wait for two and a half months before i could come out here, to my reassignment in beautiful Colorado. I'm in this itty bitty town called Cedaredge and there ain't much out here but lots of corn and cows and deer. So ofcourse I absolutely love it.  STORYTIME at my first member dinner they bring out this AWESOME looking pink lemonade and i was so excited to drink it and as I go to drink it a fly flies into my face so I flinched and the lemonade goes EVERYWHERE. My companion was DYING laughing and I'm just trying to clean it up and of course the members made fun of me for the rest of the dinner. BONUS STORY we were going to do service at this lady's house and as I was getting out of the truck I slammed my finger in the door and most likely broke it. On my THIRD DAY IN THE FIELD so I re...
