Eight below, I guess

My dear california friends who have never spent the winter in another state: don't do it. Stay in your cozy 55° weather, dont go on vacation for more than a week, and enjoy the sunshine. At least do it for me. Please.

Am I being dramatic? Yeah. But was it -8 yesterday? Yes. So I think I'm justified. I've never been so grateful for blankets and heaters and jackets before. And socks. And gloves.

But besides the subzero weather, I'm doing great! We had transfers this week, but (thankfully) my companion and I are staying together. We went to the thrift store today... I got myself another jacket (because we all know I need it.)

At church yesterday we talked about the refiner's fire-- how every generation goes through adversity and comes out stronger because of it. Covid is a pretty intense fire, I admit. It's not an easy time we're in right now. But we can have hope for the future. Christ has promised that the righteous have no need to fear. It reminds me of a quote I heard from one of our church leaders: "the future is as bright as your faith." And that is very true. Build your faith, live a righteous life, and no matter what the world experiences, you will be happy.

I love you all! Hope you're all warmer than I am!
